Why Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy uses the properties of water to provide therapeutic treatment and pain relief. Hydrotherapy has been used in humans since ancient times and has been used for race horses and in the greyhound industry for many years. It is now widely regarded and used for dogs in general.

It is a good alternative to weight bearing exercise and helps to speed up post operative recovery and slow down the progression of some degenerative conditions.

Hydrotherapy is used to treat common orthopaedic conditions such as

  • Elbow and Hip Dysplasia,
  • Cruciate disease,
  • Osteoarthritis,
  • Patella Luxation,
  • Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD)
  • Fractures
  • Legge Calve Perthes.

Also, some common neurological conditions

  • Wobblers,
  • Spondylosis,
  • Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
  • Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (FCE)
  • Chronic Degenerative Radiculomyelopathy (CDRM).

it also helps with

  • General joint stiffness,
  • Soft tissue injuries,
  • Obesity
  • General mental wellbeing
  • General fitness of your dog.

About me

Sally Taphouse is a fully qualified Canine Hydrotherapist, having gained a level 3 certificate in Hydrotherapy for Small Animals.

She has spent the past two years running a very busy practise in Lincoln which specialises in rehabilitating dogs and has gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge.

She has a passion for canine health and wellbeing, having 6 dogs of her own who have suffered from several limb issues including hip dysplasia, Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) in shoulder and Caudal cruciate rupture.

While dealing with these issues realised that the Spilsby / Skegness area was lacking in Hydrotherapy facilities that would have helped her animals recover from their operations and manage their conditions better.

She decided to take action and built a custom-made hydrotherapy pool for dogs in the Spilsby / Skegness area.
